We kept telling the RAF that our survey batteries were very heavy! The Whirlwind's tail-rotor failed and the pilot put it down a bit sharpish on Tinkar, one of our control points. It was later pushed over to clear the sight-line to the next hill.
I was on the next hill and through the theodolite could clearly see the chopper perched there - quite eerie in a way.
